THE CHAIN

The spine — transfers all power from grip to tip · 鞭的骨架，力量传导的核心
The chain is the heart of the Kirin Whip. Every link must be hand-welded and precisely sized — because the defining engineering feature of a true Kirin Whip is its tapered design: the chain becomes progressively thinner from handle to tip through 8 to 13 graduated size changes. This taper is what allows energy to accelerate along the chain, building speed until it explodes at the cracker. The heavier the whip, the more size transitions it requires.

The handle is where your body connects to the whip. Its material, grip texture, and mechanism determine how much control you have — and how comfortably you can practice for extended periods. Kirin Whip handles are available in three distinct materials and two core mechanisms.

Fixed Handle

The chain is rigidly connected to the handle. This gives you precise directional control — you always know exactly where the chain is going. Experts who perform complex routines and ornamental whip techniques overwhelmingly prefer the fixed handle.
链条与把手刚性连接，方向控制精准，能清楚掌握链条走向。大多数打花样鞭法和套路鞭法的高手，使用的都是固定把手。新手强烈推荐从固定把手入门。

360° Bearing Handle
轴承把手
The bearing handle has an internal ball-bearing connector that rotates freely. In standard Kirin Whip practice, this handle is rarely used — it is specifically designed for the Long-Pole Kirin Whip (长杆麒麟鞭), where the practitioner holds a long rigid pole and uses the rotation to swing the chain. For regular whip practice, the fixed handle is always the better choice.
轴承把手内置可旋转轴承，在普通麒麟鞭练习中使用很少。它主要专为长杆麒麟鞭设计——习练者手持长杆，通过旋转带动链条运动，因此需要轴承。日常麒麟鞭练习请选择固定把手。
All beginners must start with a fixed handle. The fixed handle is where you build your technique, your timing, and your muscle memory. Make it your home base — advanced ornamental and routine whip forms all depend on fixed-handle foundations that cannot be skipped.

THE WHIP HEAD
鞭头 · Biān Tóu
The bridge — stabilizes form and concentrates force · 稳定鞭型，集中传导力量
The whip head serves as the critical bridge between the chain and the cracker tip. After a full swing, the chain generates enormous force — the whip head absorbs shock, stabilizes the whip's form in motion, and channels that energy cleanly into the tip. Without a well-matched whip head, energy is lost and the crack suffers.
鞭头是链条与鞭稍之间的关键过渡部件。鞭子挥动后力度极大，鞭头起到减震、稳定鞭型、将力量顺畅传导至鞭稍的作用。如果鞭头选配不当，力量损失明显，爆响效果也会大打折扣。

As the Dyneema frays over time, the fluffy texture adds air resistance, which experienced practitioners actively seek out.

A metal ring clips the whip head directly onto the end of the chain. Simple, quick, and easy to replace — but the extra ring introduces a minor point of energy loss in the transfer chain.

Threaded & Knotted
穿针引线绑接
The whip head cord is threaded directly through the last chain link and knotted — no connector ring. Chain and head become effectively one continuous unit, with near-zero energy loss. The preferred method of serious practitioners.

THE CRACKER TIP
鞭稍 · Biān Shāo
Where physics becomes thunder — the sonic boom generator · 物理转化为雷鸣的终点
The cracker tip is what produces the signature crack of the Kirin Whip. When the tip is accelerated to just above the speed of sound (~343 m/s), it creates a miniature sonic boom — the explosive sound that can reach 140 dB. The tip is a consumable part: it wears out with use and must be periodically replaced. Choosing the right material makes all the difference.
鞭稍是麒麟鞭发出响声的关键部件。当鞭稍速度超过音速（约343米/秒），就会产生微型音爆——这正是最高可达140分贝的爆裂声。鞭稍是耗材，使用后会磨损，需要定期更换。材质选择至关重要。

A wide, flat ribbon — available in green, red, and orange. The wider surface area catches air more efficiently, producing a fuller, deeper crack sound. Flows smoothly through the air with excellent whip control. Standard width is ⅝ inch (1.6 cm); thickness ~0.02 inch (0.47 mm).
Recommended for whips under about 4.4 lbs (2 kg). Sold in 165-foot (50-meter) rolls; cut each tip to 18–20 inches (45–50 cm), leaving 14–16 inches (35–40 cm) free after tying. Note: one end of the ribbon frays easily — always tie the fraying end to the whip head, not the free-hanging end.

A round, white Dyneema cord approximately 20 inches (50 cm) long. Extraordinarily strong and resistant to abrasion — handles the immense impact forces of heavy whips without breaking down. It will outlast silk ribbon tips many times over.
Standard for all whips over about 4.4 lbs (2 kg). Can also be used on lighter whips when practitioners prefer to avoid frequent tip replacements.
