Hand-braided genuine cowhide, a black rosewood handle and an 11-foot reach — the whip Chinese martial artists learn to crack.
In the West you'd call it a bullwhip. In China it's the shepherd's whip — and across the country, martial artists train with it to build timing, rhythm and whole-body power. The Classic is the honest, hard-working version: HAND-BRAIDED COWHIDE · 11 FT · 10 SPARE POPPERS
The body is braided by hand from genuine cowhide, then carries on through a soft rubber whip strip, a braided fall and a crisp popper. At about 1.1 lb, it's light enough to swing for a whole session and long enough to fill the air with a sharp, clean crack.
Mùyáng Biān — "the shepherd's whip." It was born out on open pasture, where a herder's crack could turn a whole flock without ever touching an animal.
Chinese martial arts took it in and made it a discipline of its own: a whip that teaches the body to move as one, from the feet through the waist to the very tip. Handmade, and handed down through the martial tradition, it is still practised today.

Hand-made, so each section can vary slightly from the figures above.
The longest section of this whip is bare rubber — on purpose. Rubber is soft and supple, so the wave you start at the handle travels through it without catching, and the whip rolls out smooth and fluid all the way to the popper. It's a feature of the Chinese shepherd's whip, and a big part of why it feels so easy to swing.

Leo grew up training in traditional Chinese martial arts, and the whip has been part of his practice ever since. This line of whips comes from Leo — and before any of them ships, it has passed through his hands. Watch him put them to work:
Keep it dry. If the leather gets wet, let it dry naturally at room temperature — never next to a heater or in direct sun.
Condition it now and then. A light coat of leather conditioner every few months keeps the cowhide supple and stops it cracking.
Store it loosely. Hang it by the lanyard or coil it in a loose loop. Don't fold it tightly or leave heavy things on top of it.
Mind the surface. Rough concrete and gravel wear the popper and fall quickly — grass or smooth ground is kinder.
Orders leave us within 2–5 days. They travel about 2 days to our international freight partner in Guangdong, then 8–15 days overseas.
From order to doorstep, most customers receive their whip in about 2–3 weeks. You'll get a tracking number once it's on its way.
Every whip is covered for 6 months from delivery. If something goes wrong with it in that time, we'll repair it.
Shipping both ways (to us and back to you) is paid by the customer. Poppers and falls wear with use, so normal wear on these parts isn't covered — that's what the spare poppers are for.
"Most people outside China have never heard of the shepherd's whip, but here it's part of martial arts life. I wanted to bring over a real one — braided by hand, demonstrated by someone who actually trains with it. The Classic is that whip, with nothing it doesn't need."
