Every link begins life as an industrial hex nut — pressed flat, polished smooth, threaded inside.

This is the Threaded Kirin Whip — known in our Dengfeng workshop as the nut-forged whip. Every single link begins its life as a solid hex nut: hand-selected, industrial-grade forged steel. Each nut is then pressed flat in our workshop press, turning a piece of hardware into a sculpted link.

The result is a chain like no other. On the outside, each link wears a softly rounded, arc-shaped surface that catches light and glides past its neighbour without friction. On the inside, the original threading of the nut remains — a hidden signature that gives this chain its combination of wear-resistance and smoothness.

Every link of the Threaded Kirin begins as an individual hex nut — the same forged-steel hardware used in heavy industry. Our craftsmen hand-select each nut, then feed it through a press that flattens it into an oval link, preserving the internal threading while creating a smooth, arc-shaped outer surface.

That method is unique to this chain. It takes more steel, more time and more precision than ordinary chain-making — but the threaded interior creates a micro-textured contact surface at every joint, which is where the unusual combination of hard-wearing and silken comes from. The polished exterior reflects light like liquid silver in motion.

In China the Kirin Whip is first and foremost a fitness practice. The swing is driven from the waist and hips, so a session works the core, shoulders and grip together — and the rhythm of it is what keeps people coming back.

It is practised by children and by people in their seventies and eighties, in parks and public squares, with regular national gatherings and competitions held across the country. Performance and martial-arts routines grow out of that same base.
