A Wheat Ear chain forged from bearing steel — the same high-carbon chromium alloy used to make ball bearings.
Bearing steel is a high-carbon chromium alloy, the metal trusted for ball bearings, rollers and bearing races. It's made to one of the strictest standards in all of steelmaking, prized for its ~3× THE HARDNESS & WEAR-RESISTANCE OF 304 STAINLESS STEEL — which means a chain that holds its shape and shrugs off years of cracking.
This is the Twin-Petal Wheat Ear chain. Each link is shaped from a single piece of bearing steel with a groove pressed down its center, so every link reads as two petals — the full, handsome look of a ripe ear of wheat. The result is a whip body with real presence that stays smooth and even from grip to tip.
Three weight options, each with its own chain length and overall feel. All measurements are total assembled dimensions, shown in both lb/ft and kg/m.
| WEIGHT | CHAIN | WHIP HEAD | CRACKER | HANDLE | OVERALL |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1.76 lb (0.8 kg) | 4.76 ft (1.45 m) | 1.97 ft (0.6 m) | 1.64 ft (0.5 m) | 7.9 in (0.2 m) | 9.02 ft (2.75 m) |
| 1.98 lb (0.9 kg) | 4.92 ft (1.5 m) | 1.97 ft (0.6 m) | 1.64 ft (0.5 m) | 7.9 in (0.2 m) | 9.19 ft (2.8 m) |
| 2.20 lb (1.0 kg) | 5.09 ft (1.55 m) | 2.30 ft (0.7 m) | 1.64 ft (0.5 m) | 7.9 in (0.2 m) | 9.68 ft (2.95 m) |
Your whip arrives fully assembled — handle, chain, whip head and cracker already connected. Crack it the moment you unbox it.
If you're new to the chain whip, anything around 1 kg (2 jin) or lighter is a comfortable place to start.
This whip suits both beginners learning the basics and experienced practitioners running full routines — it's a genuine all-rounder, not a beginner-only tool.

Bearing steel is a high-carbon chromium alloy normally used to make ball bearings, rollers and bearing races — parts that have to survive constant pressure and friction without wearing down. It's produced to one of the strictest quality standards in steelmaking.
That same hardness and wear-resistance — roughly 3× that of 304 stainless steel — is what makes it such a good chain: it holds its shape, resists stretching, and takes years of cracking in stride.
"Bearing steel is the toughest chain we make. It's the metal engineers reach for when a part can't be allowed to wear out — so it makes a whip that just keeps going. Every Twin-Petal Wheat Ear chain leaves our Dengfeng workshop hand-inspected. If it doesn't run smooth, we don't ship it."
