Wheat Ear Kirin Whip in cobalt alloy
Cobalt Alloy. Wheat Ear Chain.

Darker, harder, smoother than ordinary steel — a cobalt-forged chain named for the full, handsome look of a ripe ear of wheat.

Cobalt is alloyed into the links during forging, giving this chain 2–4× THE HARDNESS OF STAINLESS STEEL — high tensile strength, real toughness, almost no stretch over years of cracking. Hard, but never brittle.

Because cobalt reacts in the forge, every chain settles into its own deep iridescent tone — violet-black or smoky black-gold that shifts in the light. It's the Wheat Ear chain: a name Chinese crackers gave it for its full, handsome links — a whip body that's flexible, fast, and beautifully even from grip to tip.

WHY COBALT

Three Reasons It Outlasts the Rest

◆ 01
2–4× Harder
Cobalt-forged links resist stretching and deformation far longer than standard steel chains.
◆ 02
Iridescent Finish
A natural violet-black / black-gold tone from the forge — no two chains finish exactly alike.
◆ 03
Wheat Ear Chain
Full, evenly-set links prized for a smooth, fast, responsive whip body in the hand.

About the Chain & Its Color

The cobalt is added during forging, where it triggers a chemical reaction that colors the surface of the metal — which is why the chain finishes in a deep violet-black or black-gold tone rather than plain silver. This is a serious-cracker favorite.

Because the color lives in this reacted surface layer, it's a natural finish that can wear over time with heavy use and friction — this is normal and doesn't affect the chain's strength.

The connection between the chain and the whip head is a woven cord, not a metal ring — softer in the hand, quieter in the swing, and kinder to the chain over time.

⚔ A NOTE FROM THE FOUNDER

"Cobalt is the alloy serious crackers come back for. It's harder, it holds its shape, and that dark iridescent finish — you can't fake it. Every Wheat Ear chain leaves our Dengfeng workshop hand-inspected. If it doesn't run smooth, we don't ship it."
