Seventeen centuries of Chinese mastery — finally crossing the seas.
The Kirin Whip was born on Chinese battlefields some 1,700 years ago, later refined as a Shaolin training art and named after the Qilin 麒麟 — the auspicious creature of Chinese mythology that brings prosperity, justice, and protection.
In 1980, Shenyang martial artist Wang Jinlong 王金龙 forged the first all-metal chain whip — a revolutionary art form fusing the nine-section whip, meteor hammer, and Daoist fly-whisk into one. In 1999, master Zhao Chiyu 赵赤宇 standardized the form into what is known today as the China Kirin Whip 中华麒麟鞭.
We did not invent this art. But for the first time in seventeen centuries, the Kirin Whip is reaching practitioners beyond Chinese borders — forged at the source, carried to the world.

Before You Take
The First Crack

Everything you might wonder before bringing a Kirin Whip into your training journey.
The Kirin Whip is approachable for anyone willing to put in 20 to 30 minutes a day. Most beginners can perform a clean basic crack within their first week. The key is starting with a lightweight whip (1.4 – 2.2 lbs from our Agility & Fitness series) and learning slow, structured motions before adding speed. Foundational training is about coordination, not strength — practitioners aged 15 to 75 around the world train successfully with our whips.
The Kirin Whip is safe when respected. Every whip ships with protective gloves as part of the Master's Kit. For your first weeks of practice — when control is still developing and the whip can swing back unexpectedly — we strongly recommend wearing a helmet, safety glasses, and a thick jacket to protect against accidental strikes to your head, eyes, and shoulders. Always train in an open outdoor area of at least 4 meters / 13 feet in every direction, and never near other people, pets, or fragile objects. Start slow, build muscle memory, and the whip will reward you with control rather than chaos.
For most beginners and intermediate flow practitioners, we recommend starting with a 1.4 – 2.2 lb whip from our Agility & Fitness series — light enough to learn proper mechanics without strain, balanced enough for tricks and sonic cracks alike. The Kirin Whip is classified as a martial arts training tool / fitness equipment — not a regulated weapon — and clears customs without issue in the United States, Canada, the European Union, the United Kingdom, Australia, and most other markets. We declare every shipment accurately and provide complete commercial documentation. If your country has unique import requirements, we'll note them at checkout.
We stand behind every whip we forge. If your order arrives damaged or defective, we'll replace it or refund you in full within 30 days — no debate. For change-of-mind returns, please contact us within 30 days of delivery in unused condition.
